I'll be back

Five days hiking in Arizona. Five long days trying to get caught up at work. One 600 mile unplanned road trip to see my ICU residing sister. 6 hours sleep in the last two days.

I'll be back as soon as I recover a bit.

Tripping

Ms. Theo and I have just arrived in Sedona, AZ after three days hiking in the Grand Canyon's South Rim. Amazing!

Gentle Walking

beads of perspiration mark trails down my temples
paths of the journey of necessity, vigilance
arms stretch outward to maintain balance
delicate steps along the precipice of doubt
pain

once more muscles constrict and release in rhythm
of a waltz that moves me ever forward
mental anguish and withered cravings scream
threats of rebellion and unwillingness
fear

gentle wisps of liberated mist rise from the earth
once bound to soil and stone now free, rising
swirling forms of supportive hands appear upon my frame
lifting forever a small piece of life's weighty matter
relief
